Kew Gardens

A small plein air sketch from Kew Gardens in Toronto.  Fun to do and nice to remember summer colours now. 

More light from the Gulf Coast - and a blast of colour which I am pining for here in Toronto.  It is one of the great aspects of painting, you can conjure up the seasons when you want them!

We tried a quick and brief visit to the Gulf Coast this winter and, while we hit a chilly patch of weather,  soaked up sun and water views - and caught a few plays of light, like this one. 

Irresistible views of my favourite subjects - water, sailboats and rocks.  Inspired by another photo from John Galati - his artistic eye really supported this composition!

A small version of a scene I posted on February 11 - another shot at it with more suggestion than actual shapes.  Someday I would like to paint this en plein air.  Might be chilly! 

Grapefruits and wine - an odd combination but I like the reflections and trying for some luminosity in the fruit.  Still life is a wonderful pursuit in January!
